FALL ATHLETICS AT DAYSTAR

This fall marked an exciting season for Daystar athletics, with students across every grade level stepping onto fields, courts, and courses with energy, commitment, and pride. From our youngest Junior Falcons to historic moments at the middle and high school levels, it was a season full of growth—and several memorable firsts.

For our youngest athletes, Junior Falcons offered Kindergarten through Grade 02 students an introduction to organized sports. These early experiences focused on learning basic skills, understanding teamwork, and discovering the joy of play. It was a delight to watch students cheer one another on, try new things, and begin to see themselves as part of a team.

At the middle and high school levels, the season brought both strong performances and meaningful milestones. This fall, Daystar hosted its first-ever Cross Country Invitational along the Chicago lakeshore. With the skyline behind them, more than 90 runners from across the city competed in a beautiful and challenging course. The event was a celebration of competition and community, made possible by dedicated coaches, volunteers, and organizers, and it’s one we hope will become a lasting tradition.

Cross country also brought a historic achievement for Daystar: 8th grader Schneider Skalitzky became the first athlete in school history to compete in the IESA State Final. His accomplishment reflects steady commitment and perseverance, and it set a powerful example for runners across the program.

On the court, our Middle School girls volleyball team won the Lutheran School League Tournament, showcasing teamwork, preparation, and confidence built throughout the season. And on the field, our High School boys soccer team qualified for the IHSA state series, continuing to build momentum and experience within our growing high school athletics program.

Across every level, athletics at Daystar provide students with opportunities to challenge themselves, work together, and grow in confidence. Sports are one of many spaces where students learn perseverance, teamwork, and leadership, lessons that carry into classrooms, friendships, and life beyond school.

We are grateful for our coaches, athletes, families, and volunteers who made this fall season such a success, and we look forward to what’s ahead as Daystar athletics continues to grow.
