Middle school can be a dynamic season of growth in a young person’s life. It’s a time when students are discovering their unique interests, and developing the skills to pursue them. At this stage, it’s all the more essential to provide a supportive environment that fosters both independence and cooperation. At Daystar, we seek to do just that: offering a space where students are challenged academically, strengthened socially, nurtured emotionally, and grounded spiritually.

Academic Highlights

Middle School is a critical time in a young person’s life. It’s a time when young people start asking tough questions, like:

As a parent, you likely see your child beginning to think about their future and who they hope to become. While this journey toward independence can be challenging, even awkward, it’s also a critical time to intentionally consider the environment where they spend their days. The right school can make a difference in shaping their path.

About the International Baccalaureate Program

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment. These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Meet a teacher

Catie Reilly

Teacher at Daystar Academy since 2016

“Being a teacher is the greatest honor of my life. I consider my mission as a teacher to be more than teaching content; it is also to support students in realizing their God-given potential, because if they believe it they can achieve it. My favorite moments in the classroom are watching students experience the feeling of pride and accomplishment that accompany growth and perseverance.”

Community and Culture

A Non-Competitive Approach

The International Baccalaureate grading system measures individual growth rather than growth compared to others. This creates a non-competitive environment and results in greater psychological health, social competence, and self-esteem.

Discipleship

We don’t use the Bible as a textbook or in a single class, instead looking at the world around us through the lens of God’s truth. Middle schoolers participate in regular chapel and discipleship groups. Service and reflection are key elements to faith development at Daystar.

Student Support

Highly personalized counseling services provided by our Student Support Services team are designed to align with our global view of learning, empowering students to be a part of the solution as we provide guidance across a wide range of areas — academically, socially, and emotionally.

A Safe Environment

Middle schoolers learn best within a strong community where they feel a sense of security. We go above and beyond to make sure students and parents have peace of mind each day. Our facility safety measures exceed state regulations, and every staff member is thoroughly background checked. Daystar’s campus has a formidable exterior (double sets of locked doors, surveillance cameras, etc.) so that the interior is safe for age-appropriate levels of autonomy.
